Navy Chief inaugurates ‍‍`Tree Plantation Campaign-2026‍‍`

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan today inaugurated the Bangladesh Navy‍‍`s Tree Plantation Campaign-2026 by planting a sapling at the Naval Headquarters in the capital.

The campaign is part of the government‍‍`s nationwide programme to plant 25 crore trees over the next five years under the slogan, "Let‍‍`s decorate the country through tree plantation, Bangladesh first," said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release this afternoon.

A special prayer was offered after the inauguration, seeking the successful implementation of the campaign.

The event was attended by the Principal Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters, commanders of different naval areas, senior military and civilian officials, and sailors.

According to the ISPR, the Bangladesh Navy has launched tree plantation programmes at all its bases, establishments and coastal installations across the country in support of the national afforestation drive.

Addressing the programme, the Navy Chief urged all naval personnel to actively participate in tree plantation from their respective workplaces to help make the campaign a success.

He expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to building a safe, livable and environmentally sustainable Bangladesh for future generations by maintaining a balance between development and nature.

Highlighting the importance of afforestation in addressing climate change, Admiral Nazmul Hassan said extensive tree plantation would help build a greener, climate-resilient and environment-friendly Bangladesh.

He also stressed expanding plantation activities in coastal areas to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters and preserve ecological balance.

As part of the campaign, the Bangladesh Navy is planting fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees at its bases, coastal establishments and adjoining areas across the country.
